The collaboration of volunteers is fundamental and basic to the development of all the Association's tasks. Without their presence the existence of an entity with our philosophy would be unimaginable.
Some blind or visually impaired people can't perform many activities independently, especially those who have lost their sight at a senior age. They need help in activities such as going to the hospital, doing paperwork and reading documents. Our volunteers are, in the first place, some of our members who became volunteers and people who want to spend a few hours a week helping our group.

All of our Volunteers complete an initial training course about blindness and low vision. As participants in this training course, they receive a diploma and enjoy discounts in collaboring institutions because they have membership status.

There are 3 types of volunteers:

1. Volunteer of the program “Accompaniment and help to blind or visually impaired people"

• Accompanies our members to places difficult to reach, such as hospitals or public offices.

• Accompanies our members when they go shopping.

• Keeps company to seniors and read their mail, newspaper or a book.

2. Volunteer of the program “Sociocultural Animation”

Normally participates in the trips the ACCDV organizes every Sunday of the year, Easter and for summer holidays.

Our volunteers are a key part of these activities, without whose help, our members could not perform.

These activities are very varied: cultural trips around Barcelona, Catalonia and Europe, walking, trekking, visits to museums, cinemas and theaters, even night outs in Barcelona's most popular night life places.

All of the Sociocultural Animation trips are free of cost for our volunteers.


3.Volunteer for Internal Work in the Association

These volunteers help in the organization and management of the events in which our Association participates, such as sociocultural animation and activities, cultural – recorded books, audio-desc, theater, adapted cinema, museums and monuments, internal paperwork, and in a fundamental area, critical for the Association: the search for funding, visiting companies and individuals, getting more financial means to accomplish the ambitious projects we currently do and the ones we will develop in the future.
