Accessibility for Low Vision users


While we work on fully adapting our web site for low vision users, we would like to mention a few tips to enlarge font size with a few keystrokes. These tips have been extracted from Iwith.org, whose help was fundamental in creating this web site.

Font size can be changed according to the functionalities of each browser. If it is:


Internet Explorer

The easiest way to change font size is to press "Ctrl" while you turn the mouse wheel.
You can also modify font size from the menu following these three steps:

1. Select "View" from the menu
2. Put your mouse over "Font Size" from the scroll down menu
3. Choose "larger", "big", "medium", "small" or "extra small" from the menu displayed to the right according to your own needs.


Mozilla Firefox

The easiest way to:

1. Increase font size is to press "Ctrl" and "+" simultaneously.
2. Decrease font size is to press "Ctrl" and "-" simultaneously.
3. Return to the original size is to press "Ctrl" and the number "0" simultaneously.

If you would rather modify font size from the menu, follow these three steps:

1. Select "View" from the menu
2. Put your mouse over "Font Size" from the scroll down menu
3. On the emergent menu select 'Increase font size', 'decrease font size' or 'Normal'.


Netscape Mozilla

The easiest way to:
1. Increase font size is to press "Ctrl" and "+" simultaneously.
2. Decrease font size is to press "Ctrl" and "-" simultaneously.

If you would rather modify font size from the menu, follow these three steps:

1. Select "View" from the menu
2. Put your mouse over "Zoom"
3. On the emergent menu select 'Smaller', 'Larger' or the percentage you want.


Safari

The easiest way to:

1. Increase font size is to press "Ctrl" and "+" simultaneously.
2. Decrease font size is to press "Ctrl" and "-" simultaneously.

If you would rather modify font size from the menu, follow these three steps:

1. Select "View" from the menu
2. Select 'Increase font size' or 'decrease font size'


For a 'text only' version of this web site

Mozilla Firefox

1. Scroll the 'view' menu
2. Go to 'page style'
3. Select 'no style'


And if, in addition, you want to see your pointer bigger:

For Windows 95, 98, 2000, Me

1. Go to the 'start' menu
2. Select 'configure' or press 'F'
3. Select 'control panel' or press 'P'
4. Double click your mouse or press 'M' several times until the 'mouse' icon is highlighted and press 'Enter'
5. The 'Mouse properties' window will open
6. Select the 'pointers' tab
7. You can select the types of pointers you want from the chart under 'schemes'
8. Use up and down arrow keys to select the different systems. Select 'Enlarged system' or 'Reverse colors'
9. To choose scheme click and personalice your pointer.
10. Click 'OK' or 'Enter' to exit the menu.


For Windows XP

1. Go to the 'start' menu
2. Select 'configure' or press 'F'
3. In the window 'choose a category', under 'Control Panel' choose 'Change classic view' and press 'Enter'
4. Double click on 'Mouse' or press 'M' until 'Mouse' is highlighted and press 'Enter'
5. You will see 'Mouse properties'
6. Click on the 'Pointers' tab
7. You can select the types of pointers you want on the chart under 'schemes'
8. Use up and down arrow keys to select the different systems. Select 'Enlarged system' or 'Reverse colors'
